Family get-together on the longest night of the year to cherish age-old cultural and family values
Greetings on the Occasion of Yalda Night
.
Yalda Night (Shab-e Chelleh) is a cherished Iranian celebration held each year on December 21, the longest night of the year, marking the transition from autumn to winter. “Chelleh” refers to a forty-day period, the first days of winter in the ancient Iranian calendar. Families and friends gather to share poetry, fruits, nuts, and festive dishes, promoting hospitality and strengthening bonds among relatives. Symbolizing hope and the triumph of light over darkness, this night marks the sun’s lowest point, after which days gradually grow longer, bringing warmth and brightness back to the world.
