Commemorating the martyrdom of General Soleimani

On Thursday, January 13, 2025, a ceremony commemorating the fifth anniversary of the martyrdom of General Hajj Qassem Soleimani was held at the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Colombo, with the presence of academics, media figures, Muslims and some political figures of Sri Lanka.

In addition to the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the President of the Muslim Media Association of Sri Lanka, the Secretary of the Publicity Office of the National Congress and the President of the Islamic Organization of Sri Lanka spoke about General Soleimani's position in the fight against terrorism and extremism and his role in suppressing the terrorist movement of ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran considered the assassination of General Soleimani, as a special political guest of Iran on Iraqi soil by the US government, a clear violation of the provisions of international law, especially international diplomatic law, Iraq's territorial integrity and international humanitarian law, and emphasized the international responsibility of the US government.

On the sidelines of this ceremony, a photo exhibition of martyred General Soleimani and martyred Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was open to the participants.
