Commemoration ceremony of the thirty-fifth anniversary of the demise of Imam Khomeini (RA) and Martyrs of Services in Colombo

The commemoration ceremony of the thirty-fifth anniversary of the demise of Imam Khomeini (RA) and Martyrs of Services was held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in Colombo. The event, attended by political, religious, cultural, and academic figures, as well as representatives of the Sri Lankan parliament and lovers of the Islamic Revolution in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Alireza Delkhosh, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, highlighting the Islamic Republic of Iran as the significant legacy of Imam Khomeini (RA), enumerated "Republic and Islam" as the two fundamental pillars of Iran's political system. The Ambassador defined Oneness, preservation of unity and solidarity as the fruits of combining these two components. Dr. Delkhosh, while referring to the anti-arrogance feature of the great leader of the Islamic Revolution, listed the “Neither East nor West” policy which is included in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran as another important legacy of the great leader of the Islamic Revolution in the realm of foreign policy.

Dr. Delkhosh, also, defined the rejection of any domination, standing against oppression and injustice, and combating the Zionist regime as the principles of our country's foreign policy.

Furthermore, Ambassador Delkhosh, paying tributes to the souls of the martyrs of Service, remembered the late President and the late Foreign Minister as friends of Sri Lanka.

Subsequently, Mr. Mujibur Rahman, MP of the Sri Lankan parliament, Rev Fr Mervyn Noel Fernando, a representative of the Christian community, and Mr. Marsoom Moulana, the foreign affairs advisor to the Sri Lankan National Congress, spoke about the eminent personality of the late Imam(RA).
