H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe the Hon. President of Sri Lanka Expresses Sympathy to the Iranian Government and People

H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Honorable President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, attended the Residence of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Colombo and met with the embassy members. The President signed the Book of Condolence, commemorating the memory of the martyrs Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, the late President and the late Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, expressing sympathy to the Iranian government and people.

The President also sent a written message offering condolences to His Eminence Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution of Iran, on the passing of these noble martyrs in the helicopter crash incident.

In his message, H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe referred to H.E Ayatollah Raisi and Dr. Amir Abdollahian as true friends of Sri Lanka.
