Commemoration of the Martyrs by Worshippers at Kollupitiya Jummah Mosque

In a spontaneous gesture, the worshippers at the Kollupitiya Jummah Mosque held a commemorative ceremony on Wednesday, May 23, 2024, to honor the memory of the martyrs, Ayatollah Raisi and Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. H.E. Dr. Alireza Delkhosh, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Sri Lanka, and Hon.Tharaka Balasuriya, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, representing Hon. Ali Sabry, delivered speeches during the event. Notably, Hon. Ali Sabry, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, was present in Tehran to attend the funeral ceremony of the martyrs.

As the ceremony concluded, worshippers at the Kollupitiya Jummah Mosque offered prayers for eternal peace and blessings upon the souls of the martyrs of the helicopter crash incident.

Colombo Kollupitiya Jummah Mosque had the honor of hosting Ayatollah Raisi, the late President, and his delegation during their one-day visit to Sri Lanka on April 25, 2024.
