In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the Military Aggression of the U.S. Terrorist Army against Larak and Iran’s Defensive Response   31 August 2026 (Unofficial Translation)   On the evening of Sunday, August 30, 2026, the U.S. terrorist army once again violated the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran by attacking parts of Larak Island. As a result, several of our country's brave defenders and dear compatriots were martyred and injured, and damage was inflicted upon public and private properties. In response to this military aggression, and pursuant to the inherent right of self-defense, the powerful Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran targeted U.S. military bases located in Jordan, which served as the origin and support base for the military aggression against Iranian territory, with decisive and crushing strikes. While strongly condemning the military aggression of the U.S. against Larak, which constitutes a clear violation of Paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminds the United Nations Security Council and the Secretary-General personally of their responsibilities to fulfill their duties in safeguarding international peace and security and holding the aggressor party accountable.   The Islamic Republic of Iran reminds the UN Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council, and all governments that have expressed concern over the continuation of insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz that the sole cause of maritime insecurity in the region has been the illegal and aggressive actions of the U.S. and the Zionist regime. This began with the attack on Iran on February 28 and has continued over the past six months through various forms, including a naval blockade and other provocative and interventionist measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate in exercising Iran’s inherent right to self-defense and will respond decisively and as appropriate to any enemy military aggression.   It goes without saying that full responsibility for the consequences of the new aggressive actions, as well as the continuation of the naval blockade and economic war against Iran, lies with the U.S. regime and all parties that in any way collude and participate in the preparation and execution of the U.S.’s illegal and wrongful acts.
