Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran the Aggressive Actions of the U.S. Terrorist Military on the Night of July 8,2026. July 9, 2026   The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns in the strongest possible terms the aggressive attacks carried out by the terrorist US military in the early hours of Thursday, June 8 against several locations in the southern coastal provinces, as well as two bridges in the eastern provinces along the railway route to the holy city of Mashhad; actions that undoubtedly constitute a flagrant war crime. The Ministry emphasizes the firm resolve of the proud Iranian nation to defend its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security. The criminal US attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past 48 hours, under the baseless pretext of responding to alleged incidents involving several violating transiting vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, are not only a clear violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the United Nations Charter, but also a flagrant violation of Paragraphs 1 and 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Termination of War, serving as a pretext to justify the United States' continuous non-compliance with the War Termination MoU. At a time when the wise and courageous Iranian nation, through its magnificent and unprecedented turnout in the historic farewell ceremony for the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution, has demonstrated its iron will to confront the malicious enemies of Iran and to safeguard the authority, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity of our homeland, the evil and psychotic US ruling regime, has resorted to vulgarity, fabrications, and military aggression, including the targeting of the railway route toward the holy city of Mashhad, to compensate for its helplessness and inability to comprehend the grandeur and magnificence of Iranians' patriotism and loyalty to the ideals of their Revolution, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while expressing disgust at the cheap and absurd rhetoric of the U.S. President and other American officials against the great Iranian nation, considers their explicit admission of non-compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding on the Termination of War dated June 18, as yet another clear testament to the breach of faith, baseness, warmongering, and wickedness of the US ruling regime. While extending its congratulations and condolences on the martyrdom of our beloved compatriots, including a number of the brave naval defenders of the homeland in the south who were martyred in the brutal attacks by the terrorist US military over the past 48 hours, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes the resolve of the Islamic Republic of Iran to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to punish the aggressors. The Islamic Republic of Iran will under no circumstances allow the breach of faith, bullying, and vileness of the US ruling regime to affect Iran's national rights and interests.
