On Thursday, 9 April 2026, a ceremony marking the fortieth day of the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with a memorial for the martyrs of the Minab school, was held at the premises of the Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Colombo.
The event was attended by a large number of individuals interested in the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka, including academics, political activists, and cultural figures. During the ceremony, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran elaborated on various dimensions of the Supreme Leader’s personality and described his assassination by the United States as a manifestation of the enemy’s ultimate frustration and inability to prevail in the field of confrontation.
Other speakers, including professors from Sri Lankan universities, characterized the Supreme Leader’s personality as globally influential and emphasized that Iran’s deterrent capability in the face of continued actions by the United States and the Zionist regime is a direct result of his leadership.
The program continued with the screening of video clips featuring the Supreme Leader and public reactions to his martyrdom. At the conclusion of the event, participants were invited to visit a photo exhibition dedicated to the martyrs of Minab, followed by a reception in honor of the guests.
