Commemoration of Abu Nasr Muhammad al-Farabi: The Day of Wisdom and Philosophy

November 21 is observed annually as the Day of Wisdom and Philosophy in the Iranian calendar, in honor of Abu Nasr Muhammad al-Farabi (c. 870–950), one of Iran’s most distinguished philosophers and polymaths. Renowned as the “Second Teacher” after Aristotle, al-Farabi made remarkable contributions to philosophy, logic, music, mathematics, medicine, and sociology, leaving a lasting legacy in the intellectual history of humanity.
