Statement from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka regarding the baseless allegations in the U.S against the Islamic Republic of Iran   In recent days, certain biased and pro- Zionist media outlets have been attempting to recycle their old, worn-out scenarios by spreading baseless unfounded accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran. At this stage, these media efforts are primarily focused on false allegations aimed at somehow linking recent developments in Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka, to individuals affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran. However, no evidence has been provided to support these claims. It is worth recalling that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as the largest victim of terrorism over the past half-century, has consistently stood at the forefront of the fight against all forms of terrorism and extrajudicial actions. Iran has been subjected to cowardly terrorist attacks by the Zionist regime. In the most recent of these attacks, Martyr Ismail Haniyeh, a special guest of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the presidential inauguration ceremony, was targeted in a terrorist attack in Tehran on 31 July, 2024. The narrative spun by Western biased media about alleged Iranian involvement in developments in Arugam Bay is solely aimed at undermining the ancient, friendly, and mutually respectful relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Sri Lanka. The successful and historic visit of the Martyr Dr. Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the unprecedented reception he received from the officials and culture-loving people of Sri Lanka on April 24, 2024, marked a high point in these longstanding relations. The path of comprehensive relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Sri Lanka will continue to advance progressively. Recent fabricated and rumor-mongering narratives about the Islamic Republic of Iran was aimed at distracting public attention from the Zionist regime’s killing machine in Gaza and Lebanon, and as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson emphasized, “any Hollywood-style fabrication linking Iran to alleged so-called assassination plots in the United States is strongly refuted”, and claims connecting news from Arugam Bay in Sri Lanka to individuals associated with the Islamic Republic of Iran are entirely fictional, baseless, and false. Furthermore, no report from the relevant security authorities of Sri Lanka has confirmed any connection between these issues and Iran. In this regard, Dr. Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a message posted on the social media platform X, rejected these baseless claims and stated:” ……now, with another election, a new scenario is fabricated with the same goal: as a killer does not exist in reality; scriptwriters are brought in to manufacture a third-rate comedy. Who can in their right mind believe that a supposed assassin SITS IN IRAN and talks online to the FBI?!”. Sri Lankan media are expected to seek clarity based solely on evidence. The Israeli Rumor-mongering and accusation-spreading machine is attempting to sow confusion with fabricated narratives, intended to divert public attention from the core issue; that is, the massive wave of ongoing genocide in Gaza and Lebanon.
