Iran’s Foreign Ministry statement on Explicit Violation of Clause 10 of Islamabad MoU by the U.S
July 8, 2026
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the decision by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to revoke the temporary suspension of the sanctions on Iran’s oil export, which constitutes a grave violation of Clause 10 of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Termination of the War, signed on 18 June, 2026. The Ministry holds the U.S. government fully responsible for the consequences arising from this breach of commitment.
In a context in which less than 20 days have passed since the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, the announcement of the revocation of the General License issued on 21 June, 2026 is yet another sign of the bad faith, instability, and unreliability of the U.S. government.
This comes as, over the past 20 days, the United States, directly or indirectly, through actions of the Zionist regime against Lebanon, has committed repeated violations, both minor and major, of various Clauses of the Memorandum of Understanding.
Since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on June 18, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made good-faith efforts and utilized all its resources to fulfill its obligations in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding. However, the U.S. government, as usual, has sought to justify its breach of commitments with various pretexts.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while warning of the consequences of the U.S. Non-Compliance, will take all measures it deems necessary to protect its interests and national security.
